III. What are the applications for A&I Online?

  3.1   Access a list of interstate carriers ranked according to their safety status

3.8 Review a specific state’s Roadside Inspection (RI) activity and compare the results to other states.

The Roadside Inspection (RI) sub-module provides summarized reports for each state and the nation on all Roadside Inspections performed by qualified safety inspectors following the guidelines of the North American Standard (developed by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance in cooperation with the FMCSA).

The following example illustrates how to review the RI inspection activity for a selected state and compare that RI inspection activity and results to the nation and to other states.

  1. Access the Program Measures module from the Main Menu.

  2. Click on the Roadside Inspections sub-module from within the Program Measures Module.

  3. Click on State Reports from within the Roadside Inspection sub-module.

  4. Reports for a specific state are chosen from the State Reports area. The roadside inspection level activity is the default report in the state reports. Select a State and year from the pull-down menus.

    To view additional state reports, click on the side button (e.g., Carrier) and select from the report choices.

  5. The "Roadside Inspection Activity by Inspection Level" report allows you to compare the RI activity for the five levels of RIs. Further, the report allows you to compare the number and percent of RIs conducted, and the driver and vehicle out-of-service (OOS) rates for each inspection level for the nation and the selected state and calendar year. The report also displays the percent differences between the state and the nation's data.

  6. Access the State Comparisons reports to compare the Wyoming OOS rates with rates from all the other states in the nation. Click on National Reports.

  7. Click on State Comparison from the National Reports area.

  8. Click on Violations Comparison.

  9. Click on Driver OOS Rate to sort the column in ascending or descending order.

    Note: All reports in the State Comparison area allow for column sorting in (arrow pointing up) or descending (arrow pointing down) order by clicking on the underlined text.

  10. You can identify the states with the highest number of Driver OOS Rates by sorting the column in
    ascending (arrow pointing up) or descending (arrow pointing down) order. Click on the descending icon to sort the column in
    descending (arrow pointing down) order.

    WY has one of the highest Driver OOS Rates in the nation for 2001. Review the list of states with a comparable or higher Driver OOS Rate
