The NAFTA Safety Stats module provides information and statistics on the U.S. operations of all U.S. registered interstate motor carriers and HM intrastate motor carriers broken out by national domicile of the carrier.

The following example shows you how to compare the top 10 Vehicle OOS Violations for U.S. DOT Active Motor Carriers by Carrier Domicile.

  1. Access the NAFTA Safety Stats module from the Main Menu.
  2. Access the NAFTA Safety Stats module by selecting NAFTA Safety Stats from the main menu

  3. Click on the Top 10 Vehicle OOS Violations report link from within the NAFTA Safety Stats module
  4. Access the Top 10 Vehicle OOS Violations report within the NAFTA Safety Stats module.

  5. The "Top 10 Vehicle OOS Violations for active U.S. DOT Motor Carriers" report presents a summary of vehicle inspection activity for interstate motor carriers and HM intrastate motor carriers with an active U.S. DOT number. Data is presented for all vehicle inspections (based on inspection Levels I, II, and V), vehicle inspections with OOS violations, vehicle OOS rates (calculated using inspection Levels I, III, and V), the number of vehicle OOS violations, and the top ten vehicle OOS violations. Note: The default report is for all domiciles and for all types of carrier operators.

You can further stratify the data to create additional reports by selecting from the "Carrier Domicile" radio button and/or the "Carrier Operations" radio button. The selected domicile will be highlighted in gray. Selecting a carrier type does not change the top 10 list, it only limits the carrier pool used in calculating the percentages.

  6. Note the Vehicle OOS Inspection Rate is higher with Mexico domiciled carriers than U.S. domiciled carriers.

  7. Compare the top ten vehicle OOS violations for the active U.S. DOT Motor Carriers domiciled in the U.S. and Mexico. First, click on the "U.S." Carrier Domicile radio button to generate a report for active U.S. DOT Motor Carriers domiciled in the U.S.

    • Click on the "U.S." Carrier Domicile radio button to generate a report for active U.S. DOT Motor Carriers domiciled in the U.S.

Review the top OOS violations carriers for carriers domiciled in Mexico with active U.S. DOT numbers. Next, compare these violations with those for U.S. domiciled carriers.
  10. Review the top OOS violations for carriers domiciled in Mexico with active U.S. DOT numbers.
