STATE LEVEL COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE (CMV) FATALITY RATE PER 100 MILLION TOTAL VEHICLE MILES TRAVELED

The 'State Level Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Fatality Rate Per 100 Million Total Vehicle Miles Traveled' report provides a commercial motor vehicle fatality rate for each State over a period of several years. (Commercial Motor Vehicles represent large trucks and buses.) The Fatality Rate is equal to the "Number of fatalities involved in commercial motor vehicle fatal crashes" divided by the "State Total VMT" multiplied by 100. Fatality Rate figures represent Fatalities per 100 Million Vehicle-Miles Traveled.

The data sources used for this report include FARS for fatalities and the USDOT/Federal Highway Administration's Highway Statistics annual series (VM-2 report) for vehicle-miles traveled.
